How to Mount a Volume on a Linux Instance

This guide will walk you through the process of mount a volume on your cloud control panel.


To mount a Volume follow the proper step. Firstly, the user must create and attach the volume to the instance before the mount volume.


  1. Access the instance via SSH or the console. Then, use the command below to identify the newly attached drive. In this guideline, the new drive is represented as '/dev/vdb'.
  • lsblk


  1. Make a mount point for the data in user Volume
  • mkdir /Volume


Note: You may replace the word 'Volume' with a more appropriate term if necessary


  1. Format the file system for the Volume
  • mkfs.ext4 /dev/vdb


  1. Mount the Volume with the above mount point
  • mount /dev/vdb /Volume


  1. The volume will be mounted automatically.
  • df -h
