How to Extend a Volume?

This guide will walk you through the process of extend a volume on your cloud control panel.


To extend a Volume, you must follow the proper step. Firstly, the user must create volume to the instance.


  1. From the left sidebar, navigate to the Volumes tab, and select the volume that you want to extend.


  1. Click on the Extend Volume icon on the right side of the page.


  1. In the pop-up window, type the desired new size in the Size field, and click Extend after entering the new size for user Volume.


  1. After extending the volume size, you needs to detach and re-attach the volume to the Instance.

  1.  Access the instance via SSH or the console. Then, check for filesystem issues using this command:


  • e2fsck -f /dev/vdb


Important: If you mount the volume you must unmount the volume first before running the command. Use the command below to unmount the volume:


  • umount /dev/vdb



  1. Using this command to use the new volume capacity, resize the filesystem:


  • resize2fs /dev/vdb


  1. Then, need to mount the volume again using this command:


  • mount /dev/vdb /Volume


You have successfully extend a volume.
